Synopsis
Steve Coogan and a penguin star in this British heart-warmer based on the true story of a disillusioned Englishman who goes to work in a school in Argentina in 1976.
Expecting an easy ride, Tom Michel discovers instead a complicated and divided nation – and a class of practically unteachable young boys. When he finds a small penguin washed up on an oil-slicked beach, his life is turned upside down – and the penguin becomes not only a valued friend, but also a teacher of life’s most important lessons, for Tom, the boys and many others.
“Some movies are just there to put a smile on your face, and The Penguin Lessons does a great job of that” (Fandom Wire)
“A work of surprising depth and subtle, irresistible impact” (Observer)
“[Coogan’s] comic timing and light, sustained pitch are excellent as always” (Filmink)
“If you’re not crying at the end, (…) then you’re the one who really needs a penguin” (The Wrap)
