Synopsis

In the aftermath of World War II, two Neapolitan children, Carmine and Celestina, escape the poverty of their hometown by sneaking onto a ship bound for the United States.

Relying on each other and a kindly ship’s officer, the children journey to New York City to find a better life, navigating misadventures and a new world together.
